Winter in Connecticut is no joke. We face days with below zero temps and others filled with piles of snow. Having a good winter jacket to face all the elements is essential here. My personal favorite jackets are down filled because they keep me the warmest. One size does not fit all and I have more than one winter jacket for all my cold weather needs. I’ve complied the best winter jackets for any occasion this winter.

Down Filled
For someone who is always cold during the winter, it took me way longer than it should have to get a down jacket. This is by far my most worn winter jacket. Anytime I see temperatures of 35 or below this is what I reach for. Wearing a down jacket with a sweater underneath keeps me super warm even on the coldest winter days.
Waterproof
Mark Twain said it best when he stated, “If you don’t like the weather in New England now just wait a few minutes.” Rain and super snowy, slushy days are quite common in the winter. While I love my down jacket for all things winter, it’s not the most practical in really wet conditions. I have a similar jacket to this one that I wear on rainy winter days. I wore this jacket in Iceland through rain and waterfalls and stayed nice and dry, as well as warm.
Wool Jacket
Everyone needs a nicer winter coat to wear to special occasions like holidays and weddings. You can totally wear your puffer jacket to these events, but if you’re wanting to dress up a little bit a wool jacket is the way to go. I’ve been on the hunt for a nice camel coat for years and picked up this one during a Black Friday sale.
Everyday Parka
These are the kinds of jackets I would recommend for days that are not super cold. The days you don’t need your big down jacket, but don’t need to be super dressy either. This is that perfect everyday parka that looks cute and keeps you warm. I picture this coat being worn for picking out a Christmas tree or for a casual date night. It’s more of a stylish jacket that’s part of the entire outfit.
